D.S.LIVING provides beautiful, functional, and sustainable alternatives to plastic kitchenware. We currently sell small-batch, utilitarian wooden cutting boards, handcrafted in Edinburgh from air-dried Scottish hardwood.
People know that the pesticides being sprayed on our fresh produce are deeply harmful to our health and to the environment. But as more people choose organic and unsprayed, locally grown produce, it’s also important to ensure that our kitchenware isn’t causing unknown harm.
Microplastics from plastic kitchen products like cutting boards and food storage are known to wreak havoc on our bodies and environment. Microplastics are toxic to the endocrine systems in humans and wildlife and have been shown to cause cancer and negatively impact fertility.Using a plastic cutting board just one timehas been reported to release over 1,500 tiny particles of plastic onto the chopped food.
D.S.LIVING provides beautiful, functional, and sustainable alternatives to plastic kitchenware. Our current collection of wooden cutting boards are made from 40 year old air-dried Scottish oak, elm, and pine. Air-dried wood is superior because it results in more durable wood that is less likely to split. This means that you can expect our boards to last longer than mass produced plastic or wooden cutting boards.
To ensure the longevity of your board, we sell a range of custom board butters and care kits that simplify wooden cutting board maintenance. We also offer a refresh service to keep your boards strong over their many years of use.
