Ingredients

  • 1.5 Cups All Purpose Flour
  • 1 Tsp Salt
  • ½ Cup Cold Unsalted Butter
  • ¼ Cup Cold Water

Method

  1. In a food processor, blitz together the flour and salt. You can also use a whisk to combine the flour and salt.
  2. Use a sharp knife to cube the butter.
  3. Add the cubed butter into the food processor and blitz until the flour, salt, and butter have a grainy texture.
  4. Slowly add the cold water into the food processor and blitz until a dough just begins to form.
  5. Remove the dough from the food processor and create a ball with the dough.
  6. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and put into the fridge for at least 3 hours.
  7. Once you’re ready to bake your pie, roll the dough out into a circle. Add the dough to a pie dish and use a fork to poke a few holes in the crust. You do not need to bake the pie crust separately from the filling. You can add the filling into the pie crust and bake.

Notes

Tip: To make a homemade pie crust that is flaky, you need to keep the dough cold. You do this by using cold butter and then putting the dough into the fridge until just before baking.
