DIY Anti Wrinkle Face Cream (Anti-Aging Recipe)

This DIY anti-wrinkle face cream recipe is simple to make and uses only a handful of ingredients you might already have on hand. Ready in under an hour, this is my go-to recipe for rich and moisturising face cream.

Ingredients

Equipment

  • A double boiler - You can also simply use a small saucepan with a glass bowl on top
  • A small whisk - I prefer using a whisk instead of an immersion blender to avoid getting melted beeswax on my blender.
  • Small glass jar for storage - I like these amber glass salve tins

Method

  1. Important - Make sure to use equipment that you don’t mind having beeswax on. Beeswax is difficult to remove once it’s melted. I like to keep dedicated equipment (a glass bowl and a small whisk) for making homemade beeswax-based body products so I don’t need to worry about completely removing the beeswax after I’m finished.
  2. Add the beeswax pellets, coconut oil, and shea butter into the double boiler. Using low heat, melt together the three ingredients.
  3. Once everything is completely combined and melted together, remove everything from the heat and allow the mixture to cool slightly.
  4. Use a small whisk to add in the avocado oil, vitamin E oil, lavender, frankincense, and chamomile essential oils, and stir them well. If your mixture starts to harden, add the glass bowl back on top of the saucepan with the hot water. The steam from the water should soften the mixture again without needing to turn on the stove.
  5. Add in the arrowroot powder using a whisk. Make sure to whisk until it’s completely incorporated and there aren’t any chunks left.
  6. Add the mixture to a small jar and let it set to room temperature uncovered. You want to leave it uncovered until it’s room temperature to avoid causing condensation in the jar. After a few hours, it should be good to go.
  7. Store the face cream in a cool, dry place. And that’s it!

Notes

How long does this face cream last?

This homemade anti wrinkle cream has a long shelf life if stored away from direct sunlight. I like to use my homemade creams within a year. It’s best to store this cream in a cooler place as some of the ingredients (like coconut oil) melt in hot temperatures. I store mine in our bathroom cupboard.

How to use this face cream

I like to use this cream on a daily basis and use it in the evening. I apply it after cleansing and gently massage a small amount onto my face and neck. It is a rich cream and I like to give it time to fully absorb into my skin so I apply it 30 minutes or so before bed.
