This DIY anti-wrinkle face cream recipe is simple to make and uses only a handful of ingredients you might already have on hand. Ready in under an hour, this is my go-to recipe for rich and moisturising face cream.

I’ve been on the hunt for moisturising skincare products that don’t have preservatives, dyes, or other harsh chemicals in it for about a year. I’m not too worried about aging, but I do want a face cream that is rich and deeply nourishing. I’ve come across a few brands that seem to deliver, but hardly any are based locally and when they are, they are incredibly expensive! When I can, I prefer to buy my products locally and so since I cannot find a good source where I’m based, I decided to make my own. This is a great way to avoid paying for overly expensive store-bought creams!
I’ve dabbled in homemade body products before. I’ve made cold infused rosehip oil and homemade body butter but with kids and a busy schedule, I haven’t prioritised making my own before. But I have a bit more time these days and have decided to make more of my own body products again, including homemade face cream.
This anti-wrinkle face cream doesn’t try to get rid of wrinkles completely – I love the lines on my face that keep appearing as I get older. Instead, this cream is full of nourishing ingredients that help to replenish the shine that older skin can lose. This is a rich face cream that may be too rich if you have an oil-prone skin type, but I hope you love this recipe as much as I do.
Benefits of this anti wrinkle cream
This recipe uses only simple and natural ingredients that are nourishing, not harmful to the skin and body.
Beeswax – Acts as a natural emollient that locks in moisture, helping skin retain its hydration. Beeswax is also high in vitamin A which supports skin renewal and can reduce the appearance of fine lines and age spots.
Shea butter – Deeply moisturises and supports skin elasticity with vitamins A and E. Shea butter is known for its healing properties, as well as for reducing inflammation, scars, and age-related dry skin.
Avocado oil – Full of healthy fats and deeply nourishing for the skin.
Coconut oil – Antibacterial and antifungal, as well as full of antioxidants like vitamin E and polyphenols, which help with skin repair.
Pomegranate seed oil – Packed with vitamin C, antioxidants, and essential fatty acids, pomegranate seed oil helps to combat harmful free radicals and boost cell regeneration It also supports collagen production, which helps firm up the skin.
Chamomile essential oil – Chamomile has anti-inflammatory properties and soothing. It can help to reduce redness, irritation, and puffiness.
Frankincense essential oil – Known for its toning and tightening effects, frankincense essential oil helps to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, dark spots, and fine lines.
Lavender essential oil – This gives the cream a pleasant aroma but lavender can also reduce redness, blemishes, and darker spots.
Vitamin E oil – A potent antioxidant, vitamin E oil protects skin cells from oxidative stress, promotes healing, and can help to even skin tone.
Arrowroot powder – This helps the cream to have a less greasy feeling.

How to make homemade wrinkle cream
Tools
A double boiler – You can also simply use a small saucepan with a glass bowl on top
A small whisk – I prefer using a whisk instead of an immersion blender to avoid getting melted beeswax on my blender. I have these whisks
Small glass jar for storage – I used these but you can also use a small canning jar if you have those on hand
Supplies
Shea butter – Here’s a bulk source
Coconut oil – Bulk, organic coconut oil
Avocado oil – You can swap this out if you prefer other carrier oils like jojoba oil or sweet almond oil. Here’s a source for avocado oil
For complete measurements, see the printable recipe card below.
Instructions
Important – Make sure to use equipment that you don’t mind having beeswax on. Beeswax is difficult to remove once it’s melted. I like to keep dedicated equipment (a glass bowl and a small whisk) for making homemade beeswax-based body products so I don’t need to worry about completely removing the beeswax after I’m finished.
Add the beeswax pellets, coconut oil, and shea butter into the double boiler. Using low heat, melt together the three ingredients.

Once everything is completely combined and melted together, remove everything from the heat and allow the mixture to cool slightly.

Use a small whisk to add in the avocado oil, vitamin E oil, lavender, frankincense, and chamomile essential oils, and stir them well. If your mixture starts to harden, add the glass bowl back on top of the saucepan with the hot water. The steam from the water should soften the mixture again without needing to turn on the stove.

Add in the arrowroot powder using a whisk. Make sure to whisk until it’s completely incorporated and there aren’t any chunks left.

Add the mixture to a small jar and let it set to room temperature uncovered. You want to leave it uncovered until it’s room temperature to avoid causing condensation in the jar. After a few hours, it should be good to go.
Store the face cream in a cool, dry place. And that’s it!

How long does this face cream last?
This homemade anti wrinkle cream has a long shelf life if stored away from direct sunlight. I like to use my homemade creams within a year. It’s best to store this cream in a cooler place as some of the ingredients (like coconut oil) melt in hot temperatures. I store mine in our bathroom cupboard.
How to use this face cream
I like to use this cream on a daily basis and use it in the evening. I apply it after cleansing and gently massage a small amount onto my face and neck. It is a rich cream and I like to give it time to fully absorb into my skin so I apply it 30 minutes or so before bed.
