Ready in 5 minutes this simple lemon lime and bitters recipe makes the quintessential summer drink. Fresh lemon and lime are squeezed over spicy Angostura Bitters and ice.

Homemade lemon lime and bitters is simple to make – the ingredients are in the name. It’s a refreshing drink made with fresh lemon, lime, and spicy Angostura Bitters that makes the dog days of summer a bit cooler. It would pair nicely with this homemade (no churn) ice cream.

Is There Alcohol In Lemon Lime and Bitters?

This recipes calls for Angostura Bitters, which are about 45% alcohol. However only 6-7 drops of bitters are used per drink due to how concentrated bitters are. So the amount of alcohol in a lemon lime and bitters drink is less than a usual cocktail. For this reason most bars class this drink as non-alcoholic.

What Do Bitters Taste Like?

Angostura Bitters have a sharp, sweet, and spicy flavour. It has notes for cinnamon, clove, and the sweetness of fruit.

What Is In Bitters?

The exact ingredients in Angostura Bitters are kept secret but it is made from a blend of botanicals, with extracts of roots, grasses, and fruits.

Instructions

Place a small strainer on top of a glass.

Squeeze the juice from the lemons and limes into the glass, catching any seeds in the strainer.

Fill the glass with club soda.

Add 6-7 drops of Angostura Bitters.

Give it a taste and add more lemon or lime if desired.

Finish the drink by adding a slice of lemon to the rim of the glass and enjoy!
