I’m using a cotton gauze fabric for these muslin burp cloths. This is because I want to get maximum utility out of them. Cotton gauze is a great fabric for light-weight nursing covers and blankets. By investing time and money to make a couple of these DIY muslin burp cloths, you’re getting three products for the price of one!

FAQ

Difference Between Burp Cloth And Muslin?

A classic muslin is light-weight and a single piece of fabric. A classic burp cloth has a layer of flannel in between two pieces of cotton which helps it be absorbent.

I like the versatility and simplicity of muslin burp cloths – they are faster to make and I don’t need the extra layers of fabric and flannel.

Can You Use Muslin Blankets As Burp Cloths?

Yes. Muslin blankets are absorbent and in my experience work great as burp cloths.

What Is The Best Material To Make Burp Cloths?

Cotton gauze fabric works great to make burp cloths that are absorbent but can also double as nursing covers and summer baby blankets. If you are looking for a super absorbent option, you can use flannel sandwiched by cotton fabric.
